Yes, he is strong [on the outside].
Yes, he is courageous.
He can put a fight [for a while].
His smile is infectious, and his laugh is contagious.
He would keep us up all night long
just to learn all he can about me [if I let him].
He's never ashamed of the people he loves.
His values and admirations are polarizing
to the edge of his dark hair and moonlight countenance.
He is so kind that it tends to hurt,
and behind those midnight eyes is a man scorned.
But no matter how much the world screams, “Monster!”
simply because of the stereotypes and lies
they applied to his gender,
his light remains and [yes] it burns brighter [than theirs].
I pray he knows how much I cherish that he needs love too.
